Shawna Marie Grimm
May 17, 1990 - February 27, 2006
No parent should EVER have to bury their child before their 16th birthday..
No 12-year-old boy should have to lose his big sister..
Nobody should EVER have to go to a 15-year-old's funeral..
Shawna Marie was diagnosed with a Glio Blastoma Muliforme Level four Brain Tumor in August of 2004. She lost her battle less than 2 years later.
I didn't know Shawna that well at all. I met her about 5 or 6 years ago, when my sister was dating her dad, and only saw her a couple times since. The last time I saw her I went to a benefit that her family had in her hometown back in October to help raise money to pay for her medical bills. She was an upbeat, caring, smiling, shy teenage girl.
Today was the funeral. And from what her family was saying, it was exactly how Shawna would have wanted it: lots of music. They played "Skin" (see below for the words - so sad). They played "I Can Only Imagine," "Amazing Grace" and a few more lovely, but sad songs. They even had us stand up and clap to "Sweet Home Up In Heaven" (to the tune of "Sweet Home Alabama") .
God Bless you sweetie and you take care of all the little ones up in heaven!

That shouldn't have to happen to anybody! Poor child! But according to her grandmother, she helped another little girl cross over on the same day that she died. It's good to know that someone like Shawna will be up there to take care of the little ones. God bless you, Shawna!
